Here you can see the front and left side panel linked togeter with a couple of hoses. Alright, huh?

I was very happy with the progress of the case at this point - my ideas had worked well! However, there is still a lot more to do before the case is finished.

As it turned out, mounting the hard drives in the way I wanted them wasn't at all as easy as I first thought it would be. I was hoping to be able to just drill a couple of holes in the drive cage and 'bolt' them on. However, when I tried to do this, the drives were too deep and made it impossible to close the side panel. I decided that the best course of action was to cut away the entire side of the drive cage and re-position it.

I replaced the steel bit of the drive cage with a piece of 6mm plexi because this is much easier to work with. I used a couple of old motherboard spacers to mount the drive cage 20mm further away from the edge of the case so that the drives could be mounted without them touching the side panel. Here you can see the drives in place.
